Description
The Okaloa advanced simulations have been created to help attendees experience flow and particular problems that can occur with flow. This is another in a new series of advanced simulations to follow TeamFlow. This particular simulation explores the flow of work across an organisation. Many orgnaisations are constantly trying to balance the variation in types and volumes of demand as well as different levels of capabilities.
What participants will learn
This course is highly interactive with learning by simulation. At the conclusion of this course, it is expected that attendees will understand the variation between supply and demand and how to manage this across the organisation. It demonstrates how if you're not tuning to flow across your teams, you can extend your lead times and make it unpredictable. From this you will learn techniques to counteract these flow impacts for better customer and team results, including:
- Expressing the nature of different types of demand
- Understanding starvation and excess demand
- Understand the nature of delay across the whole system
- Upstream techniques such as triage, real and embedded options
- Order points and more advanced WiP allocation mechanisms
Pre-requisites
It is expected that attendees have at least completed the Okaloa Flowlab Team Flow, either individually or part of the Kanban System Design course.
Although full KMP status is encouraged, it's not essential.
System Requirements
Computer with video camera, microphone, speakers / headphones.
Internet connection capable of supporting streaming video meetings.

Who should attend
This course is intended for team members, managers and leaders who want to expand their understanding of Kanban and experience how to handle problems specific to multiple team environments.
Minimum attendance
Please note, in order to be economically viable, we need at least 4 students to enrol, otherwise we may reschedule the class.
